AIDS and Tuberculosis Prevention

In 2006 an AIDS and health project was conducted in the school and the surrounding villages Ringmo and Pugmo. It was initiated on request of the local population. It included education and awareness on aids and hepatitis. After public speeches the topics and various behavioral patterns were discussed with health workers and the traditional Tibetan doctors (amchi) in groups separated by gender. It is important to the local population and the Tapriza NGO to resume the project in future and expand it to discussions on other illnesses such as tuberculosis. 

In the meantime various health workshops and information events on pregnancy, birth and motherhood were conducted at our health post. In future a maternal clinic is planed in collaboration with the health department and 'One Heart Worldwide'.
