The Bon landscape of Dolpo, in the Northwest of Nepal (09/11/2012)

Dr. Marietta Kind offers a glimpse into her recent book on the topic: The animated and transformed Bon landscape of Dolpo with its pilgrimages, monasteries and great masters. She describes the altering history of the region between the kingdoms of Mustang, Tibet and Jumla, the foundation of various Bon monasteries and the opening of pilgrimages. Additionally to a detailed description and characterisation of the pilgrimages and the present-day pilgrimage practice she provides an overview of the religious Bon masters in Dolpo. The book with the title "Bon Landscape of Dolpo – Pilgrimages, Monasteries, Biographies and the Emergence of Bon" has just been published by the Peter Lang Publishing House. www.peterlang.com
